Section 34-17A-9Education and experience requirements (prior to July 1, 1998)The following education and experience requirements apply to applicants for licensure who submit a completed application prior to July 1, 1998: (1) Educational requirements: An appropriate graduate degree, as defined by the board, from a regionally accredited institution so recognized at the time of granting the degree. (2) Experience requirements in one of the following combinations: a. A minimum of five years of clinical experience in the practice of marriage and family therapy, and membership in or certification by an appropriate professional organization, as defined by the board. b. A minimum of 10 years of practice in marriage and family therapy, completion of 3,000 hours in the clinical practice of marriage and family therapy, and equivalency for course work requirements as set forth by the board.
