Section 35-12-43Examination of records by Treasurer.
The Treasurer may at reasonable times and upon reasonable notice examine the records of any person if the Treasurer has reason to believe that the person has failed to report property that should have been reported pursuant to this article.
In order to effectuate the purposes of this article, all departments, offices, and other divisions of state and local government or any agent or employee thereof shall make available to the Treasurer any pertinent records pertaining to property which should have been reported pursuant to this article or potential holders of the property. Information obtained through the examination which is not relevant to the object of the inquiry shall not be divulged.
