CHAPTER 54. PROTECTIVE ORDERS SOUGHT BY DEPARTMENT OF PROTECTIVE 
AND REGULATORY SERVICES


	§ 54.001.  PROTECTIVE ORDERS.  The Department of 
Protective and Regulatory Services shall adopt rules to provide 
procedures for the filing of protective orders for the protection 
of a member of a family or household as provided by Section 71.04, 
Family Code.

	§ 54.002.  NOTICE TO NONABUSIVE PARENT OR HOUSEHOLD 
MEMBER.  The Department of Protective and Regulatory Services 
shall provide prior notice to a nonabusive parent or adult member of 
a household of the department's intent to file an application for a 
protective order for a child or older person and shall request the 
assistance of the person receiving the notice in developing a 
safety plan for household members and the child or older person for 
whom the order is sought.  The department shall exercise reasonable 
safety precautions to protect a nonabusive parent or other member 
of a household while providing notice and requesting assistance 
under this section.
